Our summer is going by so quickly! We were able to enjoy a family- friendly and vibrantly colorful play while learning the importance of community, courage and consideration!
Summer Schedule
Each day is filled with fun packed activities that either help our campers learn, play or move!
Every day we start our day outside with open rec. Once all our campers arrive, we head inside for a nutritious breakfast and then have community time with a morning circle!
Our campers then head inside their classrooms for Kidzmath and activities learning the themes of the week.
We all then have lunch, outside structured games and return to their classes for meditation. Afterwards, they’re all able to have silent reading and create in Thingmajig. On Mondays and Wednesdays, some students join Ms. Crystal for Mandarin.
Thingmajig
Our Thingamajig challenge focused on “Trash & Treasure.” Classes used recycled materials like cardboard boxes, paper, toilet paper rolls and trash bags to create a new master piece.
Check out the picture on the bottom left of Mr. Cliff’s students creating trash to treasure!
Next week’s challenge is “Musically Made.” If you have any beans, macaroni boxes, rubber bands, paper clips or anything of that sort hanging around, feel free to drop them off at our site!
Discovering Ourselves
This week we learned the meaning of “self- expression” and discovering ourselves. Ms. Trish’s class made individual books and have them showcased.
Ms. Tae’s class had a “show & tell” day where classes brought to class their favorite item.
Weekly Sports Tournament
Today we had our Frisbee Distance Challenge! Students were able to have class representatives see how far they could throw their Frisbees into hula hoops as everyone else cheered them on!
Week 4 Reminders
Thu, June 29th is our fourth field trip. We will be going to the Marine Mammal Center. All students need to be dropped off by 8:45am that morning at Cesar Chavez or 8:20 at Starr King, so that we can leave on time! We will be learning about next week’s theme of “under the sea.” Students should have on comfortable walking shoes, water bottle and their NEON YELLOW YMCA SHIRTS .
You will be contacted by Sol on Tuesdays if you are asked to chaperone.
Please remind our students to leave any toys at home & to only bring healthy snacks!
