Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are your hours & what do you offer?
A. Our pick up during the school year is 5:30, but we stay until 6pm. We encourage you to stay until 5:30, but pick up can be anytime from when school ends until 6.
However, we have a strict cut off at 6pm. If you are late, it is a $1 a minute.
We offer a schedule with homework time, outside time and enrichments. Please check out our "enrichment" tab to read more on that.
Q: How do we enroll?
A. Please go to our "Application" tab, completely fill out an application and either turn in an application with an income verification, or scan both to [email protected]. Once you turn in an application, create a YMCA account following the instructions on our "Application" tab. Once you've created your account, please email [email protected] so once the program is created online, we can officially enroll you. You need to have these three components to be considered a full application (application, income verification and YMCA account).
Q: We were in the program last year. Does that mean we are already in the program next school year?
A. No. We are a rolling basis program that honors the "first come first serve" policy. Every year a new application must be turned in to be considered for our program. It is important to check our website in May or the office for applications to turn a completed form as soon as possible as classes fill up before summer starts.
Q: How do I know if I am accepted and enrolled in the ASP program?
A. We are a rolling basis enrollment program ––which means we are first come first served. It is highly recommended once applications are out, you create an account and turn in a completed application.
For School Year: We generally send out emails in July stating you are officially enrolled. Late July/Early August is when you can set up automatic payments online through your YMCA account.
For summer: We generally send out accepted emails starting in May and have you fully registered online by the end of May.
Q: When can my child start the program?
A. If you completed the three components (application, income verification, ymca account) the only thing left is the payment.
Families that make less than $15,000 must pay a $50 application fee before starting our program.
Otherwise, there is a monthly fee for school year or a weekly payment for summer.
If you need further financial assistance, please visit the Children's Council to see if you qualify OR the Family Resource Center on Missouri street to speak to a service connector.
Once you've turned in all necessary documents, Ms. Sol will contact you to know if you are fully enrolled in the program.
Q: I applied for a scholarship, does that mean I still have to pay something?
A. Yes. If you fall on the financial scale we need proof of household income to let you know what financial aid you will be receiving. If you fall under the first level of making less than $15,000 there will be a one time per year fee of $50 for your child to start.
Q: How do I make a payment?
A. You must do it online through your YMCA account. If absolutely necessary, you may go to a YMCA branch such as Bayview or Stonestown and make a payment there with cash or check. We do not accept any money onsite.
Q: When are applications available? & How do I access them?
A. School year applications are generally printed out in the main office in early May of the previous school year. They are also available online on this website on our "Application" tab.
Summer applications are also normally available in early May.
Q: What enrichments do you offer?
A. We offer chess (Sept.-Dec.), swimming (Jan.- May), cooking, music lessons (general education, violin, cello), martial arts and soccer. We are looking into having a school year mandarin enrichment. If you have any contacts or suggestions, we're open to hear any!
Q: How do I enroll in enrichments?
A. In the beginning of the school year we will email a sign up for enrichments. Enrichments for swimming will be offered in the spring only for 2-3 different groups. Chess will be a different cycle every 6 weeks. It is vital to include an accurate email in your application, or subscribe to our "Newsletter" in that tab.
