Did you see or hear from your child about our TWO DAY WINTER WONDERLAND celebration that started yesterday and will continue on through Friday?! Thursday's theme was "Holidays around the World", where students had a choice of 5 countries to visit and learn about that country's winter holiday celebration/tradition. Students who visited 3 or more countries (verified by a passport stamp, of course) are entered into a raffle today. The countries they were able to visit yesterday were the following:
Philippines--Tradition of "Simbang Gabi" and making Parols
Mexico--Christmas celebration and making personal Pinatas
Netherlands--History & origin of Santa Claus and participating in outdoor "reindeer v elves" games
Israel--Tradition of Hanukkah and making fingerprint menorahs
USA--Celebrating Kwanzaa and the focus on family this time of year

We are ending this semester with the second day of Winter Wonderland being a Holiday Carnival. Students will be able to create & enter a gingerbread house making contest, celebrate their class party by earning enough "shining stars", play holiday-themed carnival games, write a new year pledge on our resolutions mural, and relax with their friends one last time before the break in our "movie theater".
Thanks to all of you who showed up to our Winter Showcase this year! It was great to see that there were so many families to make the cafeteria "standing room only". Our students really stepped up their performances, knowing that all of you were there to support their hardwork and dedication throughout this semester. Here is a photo of staff after the show!

Again, we are looking for a regular group of parents who we could count on as volunteers for our "Coding Club" that we'd like to start on Fridays next semester. If you have availabilities for some Friday afternoons & are interested in being a regular volunteer for the coding club we are trying to create, please fill out this form!
